Discipline (112B04)

Generally discipline could be defined as the practice of training people to obey rules or a code of behavior, using punishment to correct disobedience. Discipline plays a very important role in education since it helps especially to develop the character of obedience followed by other character traits. Both the discipline and the building of the character of obedience are challenging to many people, especially in the older age since it would deal with habits; therefore, it is very essential and important to start developing the character of obedience through disciplining from a younger age. A strict and wise discipline toward youngsters would train them to become obedience towards the authority and would be flexible with rules that they will face in their future life.
In the world today, many youngsters, especially in the age of teens, does not live a disciplined lifestyle where they can get anything anytime such that they could have everything in their own way. Such undisciplined lifestyles are often seen especially in those children who have wealthy parents being able to give them anything that they wanted. The cause of this problem is because of the lack of discipline in the modern educations today where there are so many important rules compromised and tolerated. As a consequence of their undisciplined lifestyle, they will not be able to become successful in their future life. As a matter of fact, in real life they will not be able to always have everything in their own way; therefore, they will not be able to succeed without being trained to be discipline. Although they may have a privilege to sit as a CEO in their wealthy parents’ business, they will still not be able to maintain the success that their parents have build.
The true education could be considered as the best solution to building a disciplined lifestyle. A true education should be capable of preparing the students for their future life serving as a training ground for them; therefore, a strong discipline should be practiced in order to train the students to have a disciplined lifestyle. Many students would often disagree to the strict disciplines and rules since it’s a disadvantage to them in a quick glance. They should understand that the disciplines and rules act as a simulator of their real life in the future since they will not be able to get anything they want anytime in the real life. Although the process is challenging and unpleasant, the end result will be very satisfying.
As a personal application, back then often times I see that the discipline and the rules in my school as something with no clear point and as something very foolish; therefore, I decided to neglect them. After paying a closer attention to those rules and discipline, I realize that they actually make sense and that it trains us not for the real life in the future that we cannot get anything at anytime in our own way such that there would be many rules and restrictions to follow. I understand that if I’m able to adjust myself and accept the rules and discipline, I will be prepared in the future when I face similar rules and problems.
As a conclusion, living a disciplined life is important in order for us to become a successful person. We should realize that in life we couldn’t have everything according to the way we wanted them to be; in fact, there are always rules that we have to obey depending on the particular area. A true education should prepare the students for their future life such that the school is the simulator of a real future life; therefore, is necessary for a school to practice a strict discipline to develop the lifestyle and character of discipline and also obedience in the students. Although someone may be wealthy, they will soon loose their success without having a disciplined life; on the other hand, a strict discipline will not be pleasant and easy for the students, but they will live a pleasant and a successful life later in the future when they have a disciplined life. We are like a gold, which will not be as valuable without going trough the challenging process in the burning furnace.
