Ancient Egypt was a magnificent civilization that exists for about 3000 years. It’s a stable, isolated, conservative, and organic civilization. Beside the natural boundaries, governments are also one of the reasons for the Egypt civilization to be organic and conservative. As in the other civilization today, government also plays an important role in developing and maintaining the civilization. In this journal I will talk about three main ideas from Egypt government and civilization. These three things are the connection between the Ma’at governments of Ancient Egypt and the concept of globalization, how we maintain our uniqueness base on the principle of ownership and the Distinctive Chart, and the power of pharaoh.
The government in the Ancient Egypt have many similarities with the government today especially in the government system. The Ancient Egypt uses the Ma’at government system that we can connect to the government today. The Ma’at government was started by one of the Egypt pharaoh, Pepi. Pharaoh is only giving commands to the people through the Vizier which is the second hand of Pharaoh. He manage all overall the civilization through other leaders as well. Everyone must follow one voice of the pharaoh in addition to stay alive. The concept of one voice also can be applied to the globalization concept today. In globalization, everyone follows one idea of the trends. One of the example the trends is the Facebook. Almost all the people today have the same way of connection and communication which is through the Facebook. It shows that Globalization wants everybody to follow the trends or in the other word to be equal in absolutism.
The opposite of the globalization is the maintenance of ownership. According to the Distinctive chart, we must obey our authority to build more of self identity in the other word; we are not controlled by the military to do something. We also must build our principle based on the Bible rather than depending on our ancestor’s belief. We have parents that help us to understand who rules the universe which is God. We must understand our decision and why we decide, rather than the Egyptians that depend on their pharaoh’s decision and make it their reason. We have a greater chance of maintaining our ownership compared with the Egyptians that must obey and depend on the pharaoh for their life.
In the Ancient Egypt the reputation of the pharaohs are very high. The pharaohs are very powerful in the civilization. If people don’t obey the pharaoh, they will be executed. Because of the pharaoh controlling the civilization, they people don’t have any chance to develop their own self identity. There is only one identity ruled by one voice of the pharaoh. For the self application, I must be grateful to God that He allows me to build my identity and not pressured by anyone.
For the conclusion, Ancient Egypt was a magnificent civilization that exists for about 3000 years. It’s a stable, isolated, conservative, and organic civilization. Beside the natural boundaries, governments are also one of the reasons for the Egypt civilization to be organic and conservative. As in the other civilization today, government also plays an important role in developing and maintaining the civilization. Living in Egypt doesn’t seems to be comfortable as thought.
