The
first step of the transformational process is for us to have truth as what we
belief. It is very important for us to belief in truth since the way we behave,
act, and think are based on our belief; belief precedes actions. Talking about
belief, there are only two general options which are lies and truth. Therefore,
for us to be able to be transformed, we need to first transform our belief
which means that we need to change all the lies we have into truths. When we
have change our beliefs into truth, the truth will drive us to also act,
behave, and think righteously.
The
two general option of our belief which lies and truth comes from two distinct
sources. Jesus is the source of truth, while Satan is the source of the lies.
The Bible has given us a clear contrast between these two sources. In John 14:
6 Jesus told Thomas, “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto
the Father, but by me.” This verse shows that Jesus is the source of truth
since He is the truth itself. On the other hand, John 8: 44 says that Satan
does not abide in truth, because there is no truth in him. When he told a lie,
he told of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it. This verse shows
that Satan is the source of lies since he was the father of lies.
In
the modern days today, many people was affected and was tricked by the lies of
Satan who was able to make the lies seems smooth as they were true. One of the
simple examples of lies that affected the people was the prediction of the end
of the world which many people actually belief is around the year 2012. In this
case, the lie comes from the opinion of the pop culture. The opinion of the pop
culture is one of the specific sources of lies; the other two are the opinion
of other’s and our own opinion. Personally, one of the lies that have affected
me was the false concept of human not having eternal life. According to this
concept, people just remain in grave after they died and everything was over;
no afterlife. This makes me doubt about the existence of heaven and causes me
to worry.
So
that we are not affected by the lies, we need to compare the lies with the
truth which is the Bible containing the opinion of God which is important
compared to anybody else’s opinion. However, it does not mean that we should
not consider other’s opinion since not all other’s opinion is considered
negative, but we need to compare them with God’s opinion which is in His Word
to make sure that there are no lies that can affect us. For example, about the
2012 end of the world prediction, the Bible say in Mark 13: 21 that no one
knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, not the Son, but
only the Father; therefore, it will be impossible for a man to predict the day
the world will end. For me personally, about the concept of not having eternal
life, the Bible gives many revelations about the afterlife. The clearest verse,
John 3: 16, says that For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son,
that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life;
therefore, God have promised that we will have eternal life if we have faith.
As a conclusion, to start a
transformational process, we need to first transform our belief since belief
precedes all our actions and behavior. Because we can only either belief in
truth or belief in lies, we need to change all lies in our heart and replace
them with the truth. The specific sources of lies are other's opinion, pop
culture's opinion, and our own opinion while the specific source of truth is
God's only opinion; however this doesn't mean that we should not listen to
anyone's opinion, but we should compare them with the Bible to make sure that
only truth was instilled in us. Therefore it's the same way to transform the
lies to truth where we need to compare the lies with the Word of God and
replace them with truth. When we're able to change the lies inside us to truth,
then the next transformational process may follow.
