A grace is an undeserved favor
from God. Without Grace no one would be able to survive today because of our
sins; therefore, God’s grace is a necessity for us. With God’s grace our life
will be less challenging since God’s grace will help us in almost every area of
our life and also enables us to serve God victorious through our talents which
are also given by God. To receive God’s grace, it is necessary for us to have
the character of humility where we should be humble since God clearly states in
the Bible for three times that God resist the proud, But gives grace to the
humble in Proverbs 3:34, James 4:6, and 1 Peter 5:5. Jesus has shown us how He
has carried his cross and God exalts Him highly.
In the world today, people tends
to be proud of themselves and thinking that they does not need God and His
grace in their life since they are smart, skillful, or talented enough. When
they face problems in their life they would feel very depressed because a life
without God will be very hard that we will not be able to survive. Depression
or mood disorder, according to survey, is the major cause of suicide in the
worldwide.
When we observe the pride people,
they seem so foolish since they prefer to choose the hard way when facing a
challenge in their life while God offers an easy way through His grace. All we
should do when we face a challenge in life is to be humble; admitting that we
are limited as a human being and that all our skills and talents comes from
God. Then, we should surrender our problems to God asking for His grace and
having faith that God will be able to help us go through the problems. This
way, problems in life will be easier for us through such that we can do all
things through Christ who strengthens me, especially with His Grace.
In
last year’s Christmas celebration, I’m in charge of all the multimedia and the
lighting for the production. As the responsibilities were given to me, I
proudly think that it’s very easy for me to handle it. In that moment, I didn’t
thought about my school assignments and assessments to come. As the celebration
day is approaching, I then realize that the pressure is building; the mid-term
exams are coming along with the SAT while I’m also loaded with the multimedia
projects. Struggling to manage my time with many tasks, my sleeping hour was
reduced from usual seven hours into only three hours causing me to feel
extremely over exhausted. The last exam date was only a day before the general
rehearsal when I have only finished one out of six multimedia projects. After
coming home I tried to rush with the project, but my computer encounters a
problem while I’m working only on my third project. At this point, where it is
impossible for me to finish all the projects before the general rehearsal, I
realize that I have been too proud of myself, relying on my ability, and forget
about God. I prayed to God admitting my sins, surrendering my problems, and ask
for His grace. Then, I heard a voice in my heart telling me to sleep and bring
what I have to the general rehearsal; therefore, having faith in God, I slept
and went to the rehearsal with half completed tasks the next day. Surprisingly,
the director is pleased enough with my works although not all of them are
complete. That day, I found a solution that could solve my problems and manage
to finish all my projects through the grace of God, I believe. The Christmas
celebration runs smoothly and was a success. My experience shows how often people
being prideful choose to go through challenge with their own ability while God
offers an easier way to go through the problem by just being humble and ask for
the grace of God.
As a
conclusion, grace is an undeserved favor of God which is essential for us to
survive through life challenges. Being prideful and foolish, people often
choose to rely on their own ability to go through the life challenges while God
offers us an easier way. We should just be humble and have faith in God that
His grace is always sufficient for us and that His grace will help us to go
through our life challenges easily so that we can do all things through Christ
who strengthens me.
